The crackle of the ice under my feet as I walk through the city streets of New York remind me of my youth in Vermont. The slush on the pavement, seeping through my shoes, not conducive to the inclement weather, sends a chill up my spine. It might be short, but our secret hook-ups are starting to fuck with my head. Callan claims he’s never had feelings for a woman, so why he’s picking now and me to fuck with is anyone’s guess. Callan cracks a smile, my kiss for Ace and lack of one for him has not gone unnoticed.
“I’m on my way out” I shiver as a gust of cold wind blows my hair into my face and I finally answer Ace’s question about my activities.
